BUVA Achieves “Zero Virtual Welding” in Lithium Battery Welding, Strength Exceeds Base Material Limits

Home / BUVA Achieves “Zero Virtual Welding” in Lithium Battery Welding, Strength Exceeds Base Material Limits

Destructive Test Verifies: Base Material Fractured, Weld Remains Intact

In lithium battery manufacturing, welding quality directly determines product safety, reliability, and service life. Among these challenges, “virtual welding” has long been a critical industry pain point due to its hidden yet destructive nature. Recently, BUVA successfully completed a highly demanding welding sample task, delivering on its commitment to “zero virtual welding and ultra-high strength” with verifiable test data.

Laser welding, as a key technology for electric vehicles and energy storage systems, provides an ideal solution for battery module connections. The customer required complete elimination of virtual welding in the joint areas, with weld strength ensuring absolute reliability under extreme operating conditions.

“Our previous suppliers often encountered issues with weak welds, leading to increased internal resistance or even circuit breaks,” stated the customer’s engineer. “This time, we weren’t just seeking ‘qualification’—we demanded ‘excellence’.”

In response, BUVA’s technical team conducted detailed material analysis and adopted customized fiber lasers while optimizing the “ring-spot oscillating welding technology.” This approach enabled precise energy control and deep metallurgical bonding, fundamentally preventing virtual welding.

The team also performed the most direct destructive mechanical test on the lithium battery welding samples. The results were clear: the base material deformed and fractured, while the welded joint remained completely intact.

“Stringent customer requirements act as a catalyst for our technological progress and reflect our consistent commitment to serving every client,” emphasized BUVA’s Chief Technology Officer. This achievement not only demonstrates BUVA’s technical expertise but also reinforces the company’s philosophy of “ensuring safety through technology and delivering on promises with quality.”
